Spirit, Mind, and Body Summer Intensives

Hill Dance Academy Theatre’s 6-week Spirit, Mind, and Body (SMB) Programs offer students three opportunities to experience a holistic approach to the discipline and artistry of Dance. Dance Starts Here, Summer Dance Arts Intensive, and the High School Intensive Internship Program. The 6-week Spirit, Mind, and Body programs provide training in the dance genres ballet, Jazz, modern, Hip-Hop, tap, and more. It includes a range of electives in photography, costuming, makeup design, leadership, and discipline. The Spirit, Mind, and Body is designed to nurture students who want to improve techniques and artistry during the 6-Week Intensive.

Hill Dance Academy Theatre’s Dance Starts Here Summer Intensive program is designed for students ages five to seven. Our program focuses on engaging children with holistic activities that spark their imaginations, spirits, minds, and bodies. Students participate in the arts, including diverse dance genres, drumming, visual arts, cooking, sewing, academic enrichment, reading, and more. On Fridays, students enjoy field trips throughout the city and swimming at the Thelma Lovette Y.

HDAT’s Dance Starts Here 6-week summer program provides children with fun activities and opportunities to make new friends while learning in a safe environment.

Summer Dance Arts Intensives - Ages 7-13

HDAT’s Summer Dance Arts Intensive is designed for students who are passionate about dance, want to train more seriously in the summer, and aspire to careers in dance on the concert stage.

Students will be immersed in technique and choreography, with an extensive roster of renowned choreographers, artistic directors, educators, performers, dance leaders, and change agents in professional dance. Students will receive coaching and mentoring, and opportunities to work, perform, and experience life as a dance artist, both individually and collectively, through classes and field trips.

Students will experience HDAT and other Black dance repertoires, career-building workshops, and social media techniques to advance their careers, and will have their voices as emerging youth artists in the field.

High School Intensive Internship Program - Ages 14-17

HDAT’s High School Intensive Internship Program (HIIP) is designed to use dance as the core element while integrating a holistic approach to the arts of diverse skills, talents, and professions to support HDAT’s multi-focused paid Internship program for students who are exploring careers in the Arts to experience the real world of Dance, tech-productions, and Arts Management. Rising artists aged 14-17 are eligible only for the HIIP program.
