Afro-Caribbean, Costume and Jewelry Design
Celeta Hickman is a dancer, playwright, costumer, bead artist, and student of Africana Studies with an interest in the West African Art of Leadership, Functional Art, and Masquerade. Celeta has danced professionally with Nego Gato Capoeira Angola, Shades of Black Movement and Legacy Arts Project. Celeta is a master teaching artist with Gateways Western PA Wolf Trap program for early learning through the arts and she is well known in early childhood classrooms as an artist, song maker, and educator. She has taught children throughout Pittsburgh in Africana and Afro Caribbean art and dance. Celeta is also a bead artist and jewelry maker. Her vast wealth of artistic talents have been a gift to Hill Dance Academy Theatre for nearly ten years as she engages all students in the rich history of the Caribbean, Africa, and Black America.
