Black Dance Symposium
Hill Dance Academy Theatre announces and invites you to participate in its fourth annual Symposium, Saturday, April 22, 2023 at The Morgan-Lee Arts Centre, 2900 Bedford Avenue, in Pittsburgh's Historic Hill District Community. The Symposium is a gathering of dance leaders, dance educators and philanthropic supporters of Dance.
The mission of HDAT is dedicated to promoting the knowledge, appreciation,
practice and performance of Black Dance locally and nationally. The Symposium, "Sustaining Black Dance in Predominantly White Institutions (PWI) of Higher Education” is an opportunity to discuss how to keep knowledge, impact and contributions of Black dance alive in dance curricula at predominantly white colleges and universities.
The Symposium will be moderated by Denise Saunders Thompson, Assistant Dean, Howard University Chadwick Boseman College of Fine Arts.
The Symposium is 9:00am - 1:30pm at the Morgan-Lee Arts Centre
Master Class Series
Invited choreographers will conduct master classes in Haitian and Modern dance.
Master Classes are: 9:00am - 12:00pm at the Morgan-Lee Arts Centre
Seventh Annual Spring Dance Concert and Red Carpet Reception
Join us for an evening of celebration and fun at the Red Carpet Reception and Dance Concert. Enjoy food from Bistro-To-Go and mingle with artists from around the Pittsburgh region and beyond.
The Red Carpet Reception starts at 5:00pm
The Seventh Annual Spring Dance Concert will feature works of seven choreographers performed by Hill Dance Academy Theatre dancers.
Concert starts at 8:00pm
Doors open at 7:30pm

Seventh Annual Spring Dance Concert and Gospel Brunch
Join us for an afternoon of worship and celebration at the Gospel Brunch and Dance Concert. Enjoy brunch by Bistro-To-Go and live music from Pittsburgh's top musicians.
The Gospel Brunch starts at 12:30pm
The Seventh Annual Spring Dance Concert will feature works of seven choreographers performed by Hill Dance Academy Theatre dancers. A special performance by Creative Movement will take place Sunday.

Doors open at 2:30pm
